One of the early key decisions of the sustainability group was to aim to apply for GEO Certification as soon as practicable.
GEO has an online interactive program “OnCourse” which is designed to guide courses who are looking to become more sustainable and apply for certification. There are some 70+ points within the OnCourse program which are considered critical, they are designated as “Green Flag” items - they come under such headings as, encouraging biodiversity, managing pollution risk, use of pesticides, managing use of water, reducing single use plastics, efficient use of energy and focus on renewable energy.
The Green Flags have acted as a guide for the Sustainability Committees objectives. Our target is to apply for GEO certification in the spring summer 2024.
