Nevill Golf Club Captains’ Charities 2016
Proving that the Nevill Golf Club is about more than just playing golf, last year the club members raised the magnificent sum of £15,643 in support of the Captains’ charities – Breast Cancer Now and Prostate Cancer UK. Last Friday (19 May) each of the charities received a cheque for £7,471.65 to add to the £350 that had already been sent directly.
Ladies Captain, Liz Page, and Club Captain, Tom Hutchinson, chose these particular charities, as they felt that the lives of almost everyone in the golf club will be affected by the two diseases in some way, whether because they themselves are a sufferer or somebody close to them is.
The Nevill members are to be congratulated on their great generosity in raising such a substantial sum for these two very worthwhile causes.

Registration is now open for the Summer term at the Jamie Spence Academy, which starts on 13th May. Juniors receive coaching based on their ability and experience, allowing them to progress and improve their golf, from total beginners to the more experienced. The Nevill is proud to have hosted a fantastic tournament on the TP Tour.
A high class field of professionals, including 20 TP Tour winners and current and past Challenge Tour and European Tour players, took part on 20th April.
Well done to to Stiggy Hodgson the winner on the day with a fine 67, and recipient of a cheque for £1,500 and to Greg Payne who was 2nd with a 68 and earns a start at the St Omer Open on the European Challenge Tour.
The Club received many positive comments from the professionals regarding the quality of the course, in particular the greens. Well done and thanks to the greenkeeping team. The TP tour organisers were so impressed that they are considering adding the Nevill as a permanent fixture in their calendar.

"I'd like to congratulate everyone at the club involved in hosting the TP Tour round this Thursday. You all did the club proud; the course was immaculate, the clubhouse, half way house, pro shop and general welcome, were amazing. It was a privilege to be able to walk the course and to watch these guys play in a relaxed but well run atmosphere. Many thanks."
"All our members should be proud of all aspects of what happened on Thursday and whilst I only spoke to a few of the competitors during their rounds I only had positive comments including "these are the best greens I've played on this year" (when I said it's early yet, his response was I've played on an awful lot of courses).
Well done Andrew, Jak, Trilby, Jackie and most of all everybody involved in producing our great course and greens. Great stuff."
